HC Deb 20 April 1998 vol 310 c511W
Mr. Llew Smith

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what recent information she has received from the UKAEA in respect of the adequacy of the storage capacity for radioactive waste at Dounreay. [38901]

Mr. Battle

DTI receive regular reports from UKAEA which include projections of storage capacity. These are used by UKAEA to plan future storage facilities. Indications are that extra storage facilities will be required for immobilised Intermediate Level Waste by mid-2000. Work on storage facilities to house the waste to be retrieved from the Dounreay Shaft and Wet Silo will commence in about 2008.
