HC Deb 20 April 1998 vol 310 c396W
Ann Clwyd

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, pursuant to his answer of 20 March 1998,Official Report, column 771, concerning ambassadors for British business, if he will list the duties of each of the ambassadors. [38895]

Mr. Fatchett

The Ambassadors for British Business have volunteered to give some of their time when overseas to promote the UK's wider commercial interests; for example by giving keynote speeches, calling on Ministers or talking informally to prominent local business people. Their exact activities will depend on what they and the diplomatic post concerned agree would be most effective at furthering the UK's commercial interests in a market.
