HC Deb 20 April 1998 vol 310 cc531-2W
Sir Raymond Powell

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he expects the review of measures to deal with anti-social behaviour to be completed. [38807]

Mr. Michael

A project on the police response to anti-social behaviour is currently being carried out by the Home Office Police Research Group. An initial report is due in early summer, with a follow-up evaluation of how well the police are doing in reducing anti-social behaviour later in the year.

A number of tough new measures to deal with anti-social behaviour are contained in the Crime and Disorder Bill, currently before Parliament and expected to receive Royal Assent this summer. These include Anti-Social Behaviour Orders, Child Safety Orders, local child curfews, and statutory crime prevention partnerships between local authorities and the police.
