§ Mr. Battle[holding answer 6 April 1998]Transco' s pipeline replacement strategy is principally aimed at ensuring that their gas distribution system continues to operate safely, and meets the requirements of the Health and Safety Executive's Pipelines Safety Regulations 1996. I understand that Transco's methodology for replacing gas mains is based on a points system, building on principles developed by the Institution of Gas Engineers, and that this methodology is currently under review by Transco.
