§ Mr. Malcolm BruceTo ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will update table 1.2 in the Red Book allowing for the Control Total for public spending to grow at 0.75 per cent. in real terms after 1998–99. [36449]
§ Mr. Darling[holding answer 30 March 1998]: The information requested for the PSBR, the GGFD and the Current Balance—all based on the 1998 Budget—can be calculated from Section A of table B5 in the Financial Statement and Budget Report and the projections for money GDP contained in table Bl. The effects of Budget 619W measures and the effect of forecasting changes are unchanged by the assumption. Therefore, the PSBR in the 1997 Budget can be derived as the residual.
