§ Dawn Primarolo[holding answer 30 March 1998]: The Financial Statement and Budget Report, released on 17 March, contains an environmental assessment of the Budget measures which will have a significant effect on the environment. The inclusion of the assessment within the Financial Statement and Budget Report demonstrates the Government's commitment to put the environment at the heart of Government policy. The assessment shows that the Budget measures will help to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and improve local air quality.
