§ Mr. TippingTo ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment if he will list the reserves held by each training and enterprise council on 31 March. [37293]
§ Dr. HowellsA list of Training and Enterprise Councils (TECs) and their accumulated reserves, as shown in their audited annual statutory accounts, at the end of the financial year 1996–97 is shown in the table. This is the most recent year for which information is available.
Reserves are used by TECs to provide working capital and on activities in support of their corporate and business plan objectives which are agreed with the Government. Examples include the provision of additional opportunities within existing DfEE programmes, matching funding for European-funded projects and other training, enterprise or economic development initiatives designed to meet identified local needs.
