HC Deb 27 October 1997 vol 299 c656W
Mr. Mitchell

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what EU funding his Department has sought in relation to publicity in respect of the introduction of European monetary union; in respect of which projects or publications such funding was sought; which bodies produced such publicity; and what control his Department exercised over the content of any publicity. [12968]

Mrs. Liddell

The Government have applied for financial assistance to meet half the costs of producing and distributing a guide, "EMU Practical Information for Business". This amounts to around £21,000. The guide was produced entirely by Her Majesty's Treasury to help raise awareness in British business of the practical and strategic implications that the euro would have for their operations whether or not the United Kingdom were to join. Copies of the guide are available in the Library of the House.
