HL Deb 16 October 1997 vol 582 c199WA
Lord Campbell of Croy

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What changes they propose to make in their constitutional proposals for Wales in the light of the very narrow majority in the result of the advisory referendum in Wales on 18 September

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Home Office (Lord Williams of Mostyn)

The Government's proposals for a Welsh Assembly as set out in the White Paper AVoice for Wales were endorsed in the referendum of 18 September. Her Majesty's Government has made it clear that it will now proceed with its commitment to the people of Wales, while encouraging further views and suggestions on how those proposals can best be developed to create an efficient and effective assembly
