HC Deb 27 November 1997 vol 301 c656W
Mr. Simon Hughes

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many hospital operations were cancelled by(a) quarter and (b) region for the last 10 years; and how many of these were (i) hip replacements, (ii) cataract operations and (iii) heart bypasses. [17390]

Mr. Boateng

Information on the number of operations cancelled on the day they were due to take place, or after patients had arrived in hospital is available in the Library. This goes back to 1994–95, the first year that data were collected. Details of the type of operation are not recorded centrally.
