§ Mr. Banks[holding answer 18 November 1997]: As at 17 November 1997 the value of awards made by the Heritage Lottery Fund for projects in England, Wales and Scotland was as follows:
£ England 630,937,408 Wales 19,575,315 Scotland 95,233,358 Taking into account the value of awards for projects in Northern Ireland, the above figures represent, respectively, 83 per cent., 3 per cent. and 13 per cent. of the total value of awards made by the HLF.
The populations of England, Wales and Scotland and their percentage—proportion of the total United Kingdom population, were estimated1 in 1996 as:
