§ Mrs. Liddell[holding answer 18 November 1997]: The Government has no plans to legislate to make the euro legal tender in the United Kingdom without participating in the single currency. Firms and individuals can agree contracts in foreign currencies, including the euro after its introduction in participating countries, if they choose to do so.
