§ Mr. George HowarthI have no present plans to do so. I understand that approximately one third of straight-sided beer glasses in pubs are already made of toughened glass. The recommendation on 22 October by the Brewers and Licensed Retailers Association that its members should use toughened glasses will very significantly increase their use. The Government will be monitoring developments closely.
