§ Mr. Ian McCartneyMy colleagues and I have received a number of representations expressing a range of views about the social provisions of the Treaty of Amsterdam. We have made it clear that the Government will use their influence to ensure that the social provisions of the Treaty are used to promote employability, flexibility and competitiveness.
