§ Mr. Darling[holding answer 30 October 1997]: In the July Budget an additional £1.2 billion was allocated for the NHS in 1998–99, and on 14 October a further package of £300 million was announced for patient care in 1997£98. These figures can be converted into 1995–;96 prices using the current forecasts for the GDP deflator which are 2.76 per cent. for 1996–97, 2.75 per cent. for 1997–98 and 2.75 per cent. for 1998–99.
