HC Deb 13 November 1997 vol 300 cc604-5W
Mr. Stunell

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what representations he has received on the impact of climate change on (a) natural habitats and wildlife, (b) water resources and water management and (c) coastal and estuarial flooding and erosion; and if he will make a statement. [15591]

Angela Eagle

From time to time the Government receive representations on the impacts of climate change on a wide range of sectors.

The Government are concerned to understand better the potential impacts of climate change on all sectors. In this regard, they draw on the work of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and their own Climate Change Impacts Review Group. My Department has also established an office at the Environmental Change Unit at the University of Oxford to co-ordinate research on the impacts of climate change in the UK.
