HL Deb 03 November 1997 vol 582 c269WA
Lord Avebury

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, in the light of renewed fighting between the Kurdish parties in northern Iraq, and the differing goals of Iran, Iraq and Turkey in this conflict, they will ask for a meeting of the Security Council to call on the armed forces of all three states not to intervene.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Baroness Symons of Vernham Dean)

We have no plans to involve the Security Council in this matter.
