To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what plans he has for ensuring that the sequential test is universally applied to out-of-town development proposals. [851]

Mr. Prescott

I am committed to revitalising town centres. I will therefore expect local planning authorities to apply a sequential approach to selecting locations and to identifying sites for key town centre uses and expect developers to apply this approach when selecting sites for development.
