HC Deb 22 May 1997 vol 294 c153W
Mr. McNamara

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and Regions what directions his Department gave for the delaying and rephasing of the Garth Refurbishment Programme in Hull. [771]

Angela Eagle

During the 1997 Public Expenditure Survey, provision for the Estate Action programme nationally was reduced by £10 million in 1997–98, and £20 million in each of the next two years. As a result, planned expenditure on a number of Estate Action schemes, including the Garth Refurbishment Programme in Hull, was reprofiled in consultation with the local authorities concerned. However, the total amount of Estate Action grant to be given to this and other committed Estate Action schemes remains unchanged.
