§ Mr. ClappisonThere have been 11 prosecutions for illegal discharges under section 85 of the Water Resources Act 1991 in the two Environment Agency pollution control districts which cover most of north Staffordshire. Seven of these offences related to pollution caused by agricultural discharges, three to industrial premises and one breach by a sewage treatment works of a consent condition in respect of colour.
