HC Deb 17 March 1997 vol 292 c448W
Mr. Tipping

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many properties the residuary body, established under section 22 of the Local Government Act 1992, has dealt with or disposed of to date; and if he will list those properties. [20291]

Sir Paul Beresford

The Secretary of State has no role in deciding which particular properties vest in the residuary body. This is a matter for the body and the local authorities concerned. I understand from the residuary body that it is dealing with the archives owned by the former Humberside county council and has disposed of an interest in Carlisle House, Goole, an office building formerly owned by Boothferry district council. The residuary body has put forward recommendations to the Secretary of State for the disposal of the Humberside archives.
