HC Deb 17 March 1997 vol 292 cc479-80W
Mrs. Clwyd

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what estimate he has made of the cost to the social services of the delay in the payment of compensation to United Kingdom victims of the Gulf war through the United Nations Compensation Commission. [18726]

Mr. Heald

None. The United Nations compensation arrangements relate to United Nations peace-keeping operations. Operation Granby in the Gulf conflict was a multinational force operation mounted under a UN resolution and is not therefore covered by those compensation arrangements.
