§ Mr. Jack[holding answer 10 March 1997]: The Inland Revenue last published its performance against annual targets on 4 November 1996 in its report for the year ending 31 March 1996 (Cm 3446). The report for the year ended 31 March 1997 is expected to be published in autumn 1997. The Inland Revenue also expects to publish the 1996–97 customer service results against targets for the regional executive offices responsible for the local tax offices in a press release in early summer 1997. Leaflets for customers showing the results will be available in local tax offices at the same time.
