To ask the President of the Board of Trade what was the total amount of royalties accruing from intellectual property in each sector of the United Kingdom economy in each of the last 10 years. [19257]

The total amount of royalties accruing from intellectual property is not collected.

The amount of royalties identified as accruing to the UK from overseas for 1986 to 1995 is set out in table 1.

The amount of royalties accruing to each sector from overseas for 1994 and 1995 is set out in table 2. Sectoral data for earlier years are not available on a consistent basis.
