§ Mr. ClappisonThe Environment Act 1995 set up the legislative framework for a national strategy for air quality and for action by local authorities to assess and manage air quality. The strategy, which will be published shortly, will set out air quality standards and objectives, and will outline the measures which will be taken at international, national and local level in order to meet those objectives.
§ 27. Dr. Lynne JonesTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what recent representations he has received regarding air pollution. [17028]
§ Mr. ClappisonMy Department has received 420 representations, from members of the public, business, local authorities and other bodies, in response to consultation on the draft national strategy for air quality, which the Government are preparing in accordance with the Environment Act 1995.
