§ Clare ShortMy Department has evaluated substantial research carried out by US and Brazilian institutions, some of which has been commissioned by the Inter-American Development Bank and by the World Bank into links between land clearance from cattle farming and tropical deforestation. Staff in my Department use this information when they appraise project proposals.
