To ask the Secretary of State for Health what estimate he has made of the deficit for each(a) Northern region and (b) Teesside area NHS trust in (i) 1996–97 and (ii) the current financial year. [5963]

Information on the deficits for all trusts for 1996–97 has been placed in the Library.

Information for 1997–98 will be made available shortly following the agreement of contracts and submission of revised financial plans.
