To ask the Secretary of State for Health what proposals he has to review the funding allocations to the north of England with particular reference to the role of the market forces factor. [3503]

Mr. Milburn

We shall honour the health authority revenue allocations agreed in 1997–98 by the previous Government.

We will look at how resources are distributed across both secondary and primary care, to ensure that these fully reflect local population needs and operate as fairly as possible.
