HC Deb 16 June 1997 vol 296 c62W
Mr. Öpik

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement on plans for the redevelopment of Sarn-y-Bryn Caled road junction, Welshpool, indicating the timetable for redevelopment; and if he will ensure that 40 miles per hour speed limits are implemented until any permanent safety changes are made. [3224]

Mr. Hain

The provision of a roundabout at the Sarn-y-Bryn Caled junction is included in the current Welsh Office roads programme. Work is anticipated to start in spring 1998 subject to the satisfactory completion of statutory procedures, acquisition of land and availability of finance. As an interim measure the Department has already taken steps to implement a 40 mph speed limit together with other measures to improve safety at this junction.
