To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many animals detained in quarantine have been identified as rabies positive in each year since 1974; and what was their country of origin. [3457]

Dr. John Cunningham

In 1983, rabies was confirmed in an Irish Wolfhound imported from the USA which died in quarantine. There were no cases in the other years.
