To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what plans he has to give the Prison Service Union official recognition as a trade union. [3273]

The Prison Service has no plans to give official recognition to the Prison Service Union at this time.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list the prisons at which members of the Prison Service Union work. [3272]

Ms Quin

The Prison Service does not formally recognise the Prison Service Union (PSU) and does not maintain membership records or details of the location of the union's members. However, it is understood that PSU membership is in the order of 1,200 in England and Wales, spread across more than 100 prison establishments.
