§ Mr. Tony LloydWe have close historic links with Sudan. But we are concerned about the Government of Sudan's record in a number of areas, notably human rights and its prosecution of the civil war in the country. We look to the Government of Sudan to respond positively to the human rights concern most recently expressed by the international community at the UN Commission on Human Rights in April of this year. We continue to stress the need for a comprehensive negotiated settlement to the civil war.
