To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will require mortgage lenders with tied insurance arrangements to display warnings that only one specified company's products are on sale in their branches. [2026]

No, the Government have no powers to require mortgage lenders to display such information, but welcomes the industry's Mortgage Code which comes into effect next month. Unless where insurance concerned is an investment under the Financial Services Act 1986, where the regulators' existing rules about providing information on whether agents are tied or independent already apply.
