HC Deb 12 June 1997 vol 295 c567W
Mr. Nicholas Winterton

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what representations the Government have received in recent years from the Centre for Policy Studies, the Institute for Economic Affairs, the Adam Smith Institute, the Bow Group and the Institute of Directors about the relationship between capital gains and inheritance tax rates, investment decisions and Exchequer revenues; and if he will make a statement. [2793]

Dawn Primarolo

[holding answer 9 June 1997]: One representation has been received since 1 May. This was sent by the Institute of Directors and concerned the effect of capital gains tax rates on investment decisions. We will consider carefully this representation, and any others which we receive.
