§ Mr. GorrieTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will remove the capital restrictions imposed on the current year's Scottish Homes budget. [2473]
§ Mr. ChisholmThe Government is committed to working within current expenditure plans. Under these, Scottish Homes is required to use its capital receipts to repay debt. To remove this requirement would mean having to find offsetting savings from other Scottish Office programmes. We are, of course, continuing to review spending priorities generally across the Scottish Office.
