§ Mr. KilfoyleThe Government will continue to support the principle of selection based on merit. Ministerial appointments to executive non-departmental public bodies and NHS bodies have been subject to the Commissioner for Public Appointments' Code of Practice since 1 July 1996. The Government will be considering with the Commissioner whether his remit should be extended to other public bodies.
