§ Mrs. Ann TaylorThe Government will appoint an anti-drugs supremo to co-ordinate our action against drugs across all Government departments and key agencies. She or he will report directly to me as Chairman of the Cabinet's co-ordinating committee on drugs misuse. One of the "drugs czar's" first tasks will be to review urgently the existing drugs strategy and put forward proposals for tackling the problem with renewed vigour. This will build on action already underway at both national and local level, including legislative proposals to break the links between drugs and crime, and the work of Drug Action Teams across the country.
