HC Deb 02 June 1997 vol 295 c99W
Mr. Flynn

To ask the Prime Minister if he will ensure that details of all contacts, formal and informal, between Government Ministers and lobbyists are recorded and made available for parliamentary scrutiny. [95]

The Prime Minister

[holding answer 20 May 1997]: Ministers will in the normal course of business receive deputations from many groups who are concerned to press their own interests or those of their clients. Departments will have a record of all Ministerial meetings, but I do not consider that it would be practicable either to publish all such records or to distinguish particular groups as lobbyists.
