To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions if he will require public transport operators to improve standards of passenger comfort; and if he will make a statement. [9387]

The fundamental review of transport policy will consider measures to raise the quality of public transport. As my right hon. Friend said in answering an earlier question, encouraging greater use of public transport is a key objective and passenger comfort is an aspect of this.
