Mr. Bercow

To ask the President of the Board of Trade how much inward investment, in terms of(a) jobs and (b) total spending in current prices has gone to each region of the United Kingdom in each year since 1979. [11349]

Mr. Ian McCartney

Consistently comparable figures for jobs and capital expenditure are available only from 1985–86 onwards. According to information notified to my Department's Invest in Britain Bureau, the figures are included in a table, a copy of which has been placed in the Library of the House.

According to figures notified to my Department's Invest in Britain Bureau, the number of projects that have located in Britain since 1979 are as follows:
