The Chancellor of the Exchequer has asked me to reply as Director of the Office for National Statistics to your recent question on the total value at current prices of United Kingdom exports.Estimates for imports and exports of goods and services, investment income, transfers and the total balance of payments current account back to 1975 will be published in Table 1.4 of the 1997 edition of United Kingdom Balance of Payments: The Pink Book to be published by The Stationery Office on 8 August, a copy of which will be available in the House of Commons Library. The data to be published in the Pink Book is already available through the ONS databank which can be accessed by the House of Commons Library.
