To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is his estimate of total departmental expenditure on computer-related current and capital work for(a) 1995–96, (b) 1996–97, (c) 1997–98, (d) 1998–99 and (e) 1999–00; and if he will make a statement. [11383]

Total departmental expenditure on computer-related current and capital work is as follows:

  1. (a) 1995–96: £35,150,000
  2. (b) 1996–97: £39,260,000

The estimate of future years expenditure is as follows:

  1. (c) 1997–98: £34,425,000
  2. (d) 1998–99: £26,027,000
  3. (e) 1999–00: £25,765,000
