§ Mr. Baker
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what estimate he has made of the number of criminal prosecutions undertaken in 1996 in respect of the unauthorised release of information, citing the Acts of Parliament involved. [10616]

§ Mr. Michael
In 1995, there were no prosecutions under the Official Secrets Act 1989. Information for 1996 will be available in the autumn.
Information on the numerous other statutory provisions covering the disclosure of specific kinds of information is not available centrally.
