§ Mr. Morley(a) In a news release on 28 May 1997, my right hon. Friend announced the disbanding of the Ministry's nine advisory regional panels.
Additionally, action is being taken on the other MAFF quangos in line with the Prime Minister's written statement to my hon. Friend the Member for West Lancashire (Mr. Pickthall) on 18 June, Official Report, column 174.
(b) Following the written statement by the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster on extending the democratic accountability of quangos to my hon. Friend the Member for The Wrekin (Mr. Bradley) on 24 July, Official Report, column 693, the Ministry's position will be reviewed.
