I understand that the Association of Chief Police Officers and the Association of Police Authorities have estimated that police forces in England and Wales could receive up to £30 million in 1997–98 in agreements involving gifts, loans and sponsorship. Some information on the value of police authority sponsorship agreements can be found in "Police Statistics 1994–95 and 1995–96 Actuals" and "Police Statistics 1996–97 Estimates" published by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy, copies of which are in the Library.
