To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will require hospital trusts to collate statistics on the incidence of Erb's palsy in new born babies. [8327]

Erb's Palsy and brachial plexus injuries are, fortunately, rare occurrences. Most babies with Erb's Palsy recover spontaneously within a few months.

We do not intend to require the collection of information on incidence.
