Mr. Swinney

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will itemise the planned Scottish Office expenditure for years 1996–97 to 1999–2000 in cash and real (1996–97) prices by category of expenditure as expressed in Table 1.4 of "Serving Scotland's Needs, The Government's Expenditure Plans 1996–97 to 1998–99", deflating the real terms figures using the estimates for the GDP deflator provided in the Financial Statement and Budget report of July 1997. [holding answer 14 July 1997]: The tables are compiled from material published in "Serving Scotland's Needs: The Government's Expenditure Plans 1997–98 to 1999–2000". They cover 1996–97 outturn, and 1997–98 to 1999–2000 plans in both cash terms and real terms.
