§ Mr. MichaelThe estimate for implementing the 1997 Act is about £135 million. This is made up of £50 million for the large calibre handguns that are surrendered, and £80 million for ancillary equipment. There will be administrative costs of up to £5 million.
The estimate for implementing the Firearms (Amendment) Bill is £31 million, of which £12 million will be for small-calibre pistols and £19 million for the cost of the ancillary equipment used with those pistols.
