§ Ms JowellThe Black report was published in 1980. We have asked Sir Donald Acheson to chair an independent review into health inequalities in England in the 1990s. He will assist the Department of Health and the Office for National Statistics to carry out a review of the latest available information on inequalities in health and expectation of life in England. He will then conduct an independent review to identify priority areas for future policy development which will contribute to the development of a new health strategy. The Terms of Reference for the review have been placed in the Library.
