To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if he will make a statement on his Department's timetable for dealing with the Year 2000 Computer problem; who is in charge of the project; how many staff are working on it; what is the projected cost of resolving the problem; and whether the project is on schedule. Whilst the Year 2000 Computer problem effect on computer systems generally may be significant, within the Cabinet Office and its Agencies, it is likely to be minimal. It has therefore not been necessary to establish a project team to deal with the issue.
